MCHENRY -- Former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh says he's interested in a potential run for statewide office.
But the tea party-backed Republican from suburban Chicago says he'll travel around Illinois for several months and meet with GOP voters before he announces plans for his political future. He tells the Daily Herald on Wednesday that "it's no secret" he's looking at "a potential statewide run."
Walsh lost his seat in Congress to Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth in the November general election.
He says he wants to talk to people from all over Illinois and "see what can be started."
