Credit Union scholarships awarded

The State Employees Credit Union Foundation, funded solely by SECU membership, has presented a $10,000 four-year college scholarship to a student at each of the county?s traditional public high schools. The recipients were selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee at their high school, and local SECU advisory board members assisted with the certificate presentations.

At Clinton High School, board member Freddie Bogue presented the scholarship certificate to Jocelyn Alisa Sampson, the daughter of William and Joyce Sampson. The scholarship was awarded for study at UNC-Wilmington.

At Lakewood High, board member J.W. Simmons presented the scholarship to Jessica Lynn Edwards, daughter of Jimmy and Cindy Edwards. The scholarship was awarded for study at UNC-Wilmington.

Union High School student Jessica McCallop, daughter of Portia McCallop, was presented a scholarship by board member Denise Rackley. The scholarship was awarded for study at UNC-Wilmington.

At Midway High, board member Robert Butler presented the scholarship to Caroline Wade Clement, daughter of Steward and Allison Clement. The scholarship was awarded for study at N.C. State University.

The Hobbton High scholarship was presented by board member George Pinyatello to Lindsey Elizabeth Naylor, daughter of Kenneth and Jo Ellen Naylor. The scholarship was awarded for study at Appalachian State University.
